A Museum of island history featuring photos, paintings & artefacts, plus a library with a reading area. The museum is housed on the ground floor of the Korgialenio library, it’s purpose is to view the history and folklore of the island from the 16th century to 1953, since many elements of Kefalonian culture was destroyed during the devastating earthquake.
The museum houses – household ware, porcelain, silverware – embroidery and daily farm utensils – watercolours, lithographs, maps, surveys, church plans and photographic records consisting of 3000 images of Kefalonia before earthquakes, of historical figures, of architectural hardware, of religious icons and temples – works of art, wooden temples, sacred vessels, coins and pictures. Plus lots of informative literature in the museums library.
