Lixouri is the largest settlement on the Paliki peninsular and the 2nd largest town on Kefalonia. It can be accessed by the regular ferry service that connects it to Argostoli or by taking the road round the bay, which is a very pleasant 1 hour drive.
The town itself boasts an excellent selection of tavernas, bars and shops, there is a marina and a small beach. There are also some beautiful sandy beaches nearby and much like the rest of Kefalonia, the views are absolutely stunning and will take your breath away.
You will also find some culture here in the form of the Lakovatios Library of Lixouri where you can view a vast collection of books, many from as early as the 16th century. On the first floor of the building there is a collection of antique paintings, furniture and decorations.
Lixouri is lively and popular, there is everything there that you’ll need throughout your stay and lots of things to do and see in the area.
Fiona ”I’ve been to Kefalonia twice now & both times at Phaedra Suites just outside of Lixouri (5 min cab ride) just perfect for us, fresh, clean, wonderfully run by Nikos & family…..
…..Just had to go back there a 2nd time & will continue to visit regularly, I can’t recommend this place enough. I visited many beautiful beaches but my favourite was Petani to watch the sunset whilst having dinner at the tavernas there”
Sharon – ”We really enjoyed our stay in Lixouri, spoilt for choice of places to eat. We spent a day at Ionian Sea Aqua Park which was great for the kids. Will definitely return one day. Kefalonia is just beautiful and we’d like to see more”
